APIG VIC | Rethinking Class Actions in Australia

An APIG VIC Event

08/05/2025 12:45 to 08/05/2025 14:00

Venue: Lander & Rogers, Level 15, 477 Collins Street, MELBOURNE, VIC, 3000, AUSTRALIA,
Details:

The Australian class action landscape is evolving quickly, with recent developments including the increased use of group costs orders in the Supreme Court of Victoria and a string of securities class action decisions in defendants' favour.  The High Court has also recently weighed in on various issues, and further decisions are expected to be handed down shortly.  In addition, sectors such as cyber, consumer and employment are facing greater regulatory scrutiny and potentially heightened class action exposure as a result.

Please join us for an interactive panel discussion featuring experts who will explore the changing class action environment and offer insights and perspectives on behalf of plaintiffs, defendants and litigation funders.

Our panel will look at how recent developments could impact the number and nature of class action filings and the role of litigation funding, as well as how the outcome of the upcoming election could impact both the regulation of litigation funding in Australia and class actions more generally.
